Grain Pipe Ø 300 mm (1 mm) and General Overview of Mainlines
Designing effective material handling and air purification systems for elevators requires the precise selection of communications for specific tasks. The combination of a large flow cross-section (Ø 300 mm) and a minimum metal thickness (1.0 mm) creates a specialized, maximally lightweight mainline design. From an engineering standpoint, such a grain pipe is not designed for intensive gravity transport of dense or high-abrasion grains (corn, soy, wheat), as the one-millimeter wall does not possess a sufficient safety margin to withstand constant friction and impact loads over long periods. Instead, this product is an ideal targeted solution for constructing branched industrial aspiration and ventilation systems, as well as for the gravity transport of lightweight materials. The thin-walled grain pipe Ø 300 mm excels at exhausting significant volumes of dust-air mixtures from noria heads, bins, and separators. Furthermore, it is optimally suited for transporting high-volume light fractions (sunflower husks, bran, chaff) that do not cause abrasive wear. The main advantage of this component is the low weight per linear meter, allowing for the safe installation of long suspended routes under ceilings or on high-altitude trestles without the risk of critically overloading the enterprise's supporting metal structures.
Selection of Grain Pipe Wall Thickness for Operational Loads
In cases where the mainline is designed for a constant gravity flow of cereal or oilseed crops, thin-walled solutions lose their effectiveness. To ensure the necessary operational life, Zavod Moroza manufactures gravity grain pipes with increased metal thickness, precisely adapting them to specific flow intensities and material abrasiveness. Depending on your enterprise's technical requirements, we offer the following modifications:
- Grain Pipe with 2.0 mm Thickness
A basic and economically rational engineering solution for facilities with seasonal or medium load levels. Optimally suited for moving low-abrasion crops (wheat, rye, barley), providing a correct balance between wear resistance and structural weight. - Grain Pipe with 3.0 mm Thickness
A reinforced version for difficult operating conditions. This cross-section is technologically necessary for lines transporting high-abrasion materials with hard husks (corn, soy, rice) or granulated products, guaranteeing stable mainline operation without rapid wear-through. - Grain Pipe with 4.0 - 5.0 mm Thickness
Heavy-duty solutions designed for a continuous work cycle. These are used in the most heavily loaded sections of hub elevators and port terminals, where communications operate in 24/7 mode with maximum raw material transshipment volumes.
Our production facilities allow us to manufacture the entire range of gravity and elevator equipment, including grain pipes. This enables engineers to precisely meet the needs of any project, eliminating the risk of premature equipment wear in difficult areas while simultaneously preventing unjustified structural weight or system cost increases where the use of massive metal is not warranted.
Production of Grain Pipes at the Zavod Moroza
The quality and aerodynamics of a gravity system significantly depend on the geometry of the internal channel. Unlike forming grain pipes on press brakes, which inevitably gives the walls a faceted profile, we manufacture round mainlines exclusively on industrial rolling machines. This technology allows us to produce 2-meter monolithic sections with an ideally cylindrical shape along their entire length. The absence of ellipticity and the strict geometry of the circle eliminate zones of turbulence and increased mechanical flow resistance, which is a vital factor for both industrial aspiration systems and the movement of bulk products.
The next important stage in the production of grain pipes is the installation of connecting elements. The welding of mounting flanges at our plant is performed using specialized welding jigs (jig fixtures). Rigid spatial fixation of parts before welding guarantees absolute perpendicularity (exactly 90°) of the flange plane relative to the central axis of the pipe, as well as 100% symmetry in the placement of mounting holes on both ends.
The precision of jig assembly provides another operational advantage of our equipment: the possibility of axial rotation of the pipe. During the operation of any gravity mainline, abrasive wear is always localized in the lower sector of the pipe. Upon detecting thinning of the metal along the bottom, maintenance personnel simply need to remove the fasteners and rotate the section around its axis by one or several steps. Due to the perfect symmetry of the flanges, the holes of adjacent pipes will align without forced fitting, and a whole, unworn area of the wall will be placed under the product flow. This simple technical solution allows a single grain pipe to be used for several life cycles in a row, proportionally increasing the total resource of the line without the cost of purchasing new components.
Modularity of Mainlines + "Turnkey" Line Completion
Unified flange connections turn the construction of gravity routes into a predictable and fast process. Due to the geometric precision of factory parts, the line is assembled on the principle of an industrial construction set, where sections are securely and hermetically fixed with bolts. This completely eliminates the need for complex hot work or welding at heights, allowing for the installation or local replacement of a grain pipe by the enterprise's in-house staff.
To create branched transport or aspiration networks of any spatial complexity, a straight pipe can be supplemented with compatible shaped parts of our manufacture. Zavod Moroza produces a full range of elevator infrastructure-elbows and bends (SK) for changing flow direction, transition pipes, and single and double inlets (SVO, SVD) for the correct merging of mainlines without blockages. For material flow control, we offer reliable shut-off valves, including reinforced rack-and-pinion gates and hermetic diverter valves (KOR, KDR).
Designing an effective route requires accounting for many variables-from slope angles to the abrasiveness of a specific product. For an accurate cost calculation and technically sound component selection, please contact our engineering department. The competence of the Zavod Moroza goes far beyond the supply of individual parts-our specialists have many years of experience in designing elevator complexes from scratch, as well as the major modernization and scaling of existing lines. We can analyze your technical task, help select a justified grain pipe metal thickness, and ensure the rapid production of the entire complex of additional equipment with perfect integration into your infrastructure.
