Steering Support ZP 01.011.3 (Steering Column)
The ZP 01.011.3 steering support is a specialized mounting and adjusting steering assembly that comes standard on modernized ZM-60U, ZM-90U, ZM-120U series grain loaders and their ZMB hopper modifications. The part is installed in the front section of the unit's main frame and serves as a load-bearing base for the sprocket shaft (ZP 01.330) and the steering wheel. Beyond rigidly holding the control elements, the main engineering task of this assembly is to ensure precise tension of the front travel drive roller chain.
Structurally, the part is designed as a vertical guide tube welded to a mounting platform with longitudinal slots. A side tension bar with a threaded shank is additionally welded to the tube. Unlike classic grain loaders of previous generations, where the steering strut was rigidly welded to the main frame without adjustment capabilities, the ZP 01.011.3 support operates on the principle of a movable carriage. The threaded shank of the part passes through a stationary stop bracket (angle iron) welded to the machine's frame. By tightening or loosening the nuts on this shank, the operator shifts the entire steering support along the mounting slots of the platform. This allows for metered tensioning of the chain, compensating for its natural operational stretch, eliminating parasitic steering wheel play, and preventing links from jumping off the steering sprocket.

The appearance of this part in the architecture of new machines is a direct result of our constant dialogue with engineers and machine operators of agricultural enterprises. Many Zavod Moroza specialists also personally worked on threshing floors in the past, so the operational "ailments" of classic grain loaders are known to us from our own practical experience. One of these chronic problems has always been the steering system — on older equipment, the support tube was welded tightly to the frame, and over time the roller chain inevitably stretched, began to sag and slip off the sprocket, and free play (backlash) appeared in the steering wheel. To somehow restore machine maneuverability and remove wheel response lag, operators had to remove chain links or invent makeshift tensioning devices.
Understanding how this flaw complicates daily maneuvering of the massive unit, we revised our approach to the assembly's design. Converting the static welded tube into the movable ZP 01.011.3 support was our engineering response to these agricultural requests. The presence of longitudinal slots on the platform and a welded threaded shank allowed us to implement a simple and reliable guide carriage principle. Now, to compensate for chain stretch and restore steering precision, the operator simply needs to tighten the nuts on the stationary frame bracket using a standard wrench. This is a practical example of how constant feedback from farmers helps us create truly convenient and repairable mechanisms, sparing maintenance personnel from unnecessary and complicated work.
Related Parts
Because the ZP 01.011.3 steering support is a basic load-bearing assembly, its operation is inextricably linked with other elements of the steering drive. During the overhaul of this system, the condition of the following parts should also be checked:
- Sprocket shaft (ZP 01.330)
- Steering wheel (OVI 01.022.006)
- Steering chain (PR-19.05-31.8)
- Fastening hardware
The engineering design of the ZP 01.011.3 steering support allows it to be integrated not only onto modern machines but also retrofitted onto any classic grain loader from past production years. To convert your old equipment to this convenient chain tensioning system, it is enough to drill the appropriate mounting holes in your frame and weld a small stop bracket (angle iron) for the threaded shank. However, before beginning such a retrofit, we recommend verifying that your frame's overall geometry and adjacent part dimensions comply with factory standards. Over years of heavy operation on threshing floors, many machines have undergone makeshift modifications — tubes may have been re-welded with angular deviations, sprocket shafts machined "by eye," and stretched chains assembled from random pieces. Installing a new precision part onto a distorted base may not yield the desired result. If you have doubts about compatibility or the consequences of previous "garage" repairs, contact our technical department. We will consult you, help measure the required tolerances, and advise you on how to correctly adapt the assembly specifically for your machine.
Installing a movable steering support is a great targeted solution that significantly eases the operator's life. But if your unit's frame already shows signs of critical metal fatigue, and constantly patching outdated assemblies consumes more and more time and resources, perhaps it is time to think about a radical upgrade? On our new machines of the ZM-60U, ZM-90U, and ZM-120U series, this movable steering column, along with many other similar engineering innovations (from reliable motor-reducers to course-fixing band brakes), is already implemented in the base factory architecture. Purchasing a modern, thoughtfully detailed grain loader from Zavod Moroza will allow you to forever forget about endless modifications of old equipment and focus exclusively on fast and efficient grain transfer.

Be that as it may, if at this stage you decide to continue operating your classic grain loader and aim to selectively eliminate its major "ailments," installing a new movable steering support will be a rational step. This is an investment that immediately yields tangible results: the operator gets comfortable and precise control over the massive machine, and you get zero downtime caused by stretched chain slippage.
At Zavod Moroza, you can order the ZP 01.011.3 steering support (assembled on a slotted platform with a welded threaded shank) as a separate unit for modernization. We manufacture this assembly while maintaining strict squareness of the guide tube to the base, which guarantees the absence of sprocket shaft misalignment and effortless steering wheel rotation. If necessary, we can immediately supplement your order with a new high-quality chain (PR-19.05), a shaft with a sprocket, a steering wheel, and all required fasteners for quick on-site installation.
Contact our sales department for component selection — we thoroughly understand the design differences of steering systems and other assemblies across different generations and manufacturers, and we will help you select a solution that is guaranteed to fit your machine and permanently resolve your issues.
