The ZP 01.102 half-clutch is a movable element of the ZP 01.220 reverse gear control mechanism, which performs the function of operational engagement and disengagement of the driving wheels with the power transmission of the grain thrower. This part is an essential link in the aggregate's kinematic chain, ensuring the transmission of torque from the self-propelling gearbox directly to the wheel to execute the machine's operational movement across the threshing floor area.

In the operating position, the half-clutch is tightly pressed against the wheel hub under the action of the ZP 01.626 power spring, entering into rigid jaw engagement with it. However, its most critical protective function is revealed specifically during equipment transport—to safely roll the grain thrower manually or take it in tow, the operator must pull the half-clutch toward themselves, overcoming the spring resistance, and disengage its jaws from the hub with position fixation. Such manual unlocking disconnects the wheels from the drive, allowing them to rotate freely, which reliably protects the self-propelling mechanism (gearbox) from severe overloads and destruction.

Visually and structurally, the ZP 01.102 half-clutch is a massive solid cast-iron casting, the shape of which is adapted to perform both power and ergonomic functions. Its main working element is a flat end face on which four powerful rectangular jaws are symmetrically cast. It is these jaws that tightly enter the corresponding slots of the wheel hub when the drive is engaged, transmitting the entire torque from the gearbox to it. On the opposite side, the part features two characteristic massive lugs shaped as convenient side handle-levers. Thanks to this ergonomic shape, the operator can firmly grasp the part with their hands and pull it along the axis, overcoming the resistance of the power spring.

A through, smooth mounting hole containing two special keyways is machined in the center of the cast-iron casting. This engineering nuance is necessary for correct kinematics—keys rigidly fix the half-clutch to prevent it from rotating around the shaft (so that it rotates together with it), while simultaneously allowing it to slide freely back and forth along the axis during manual drive disconnection. Additionally, a threaded through-hole is provided on the outer cylindrical part of the body (between the handles)—it serves for mounting the ZP 01.632 latch bushing with a button, by means of which the half-clutch is locked in the retracted (idle) position during machine towing.

Classic models (ZM-60, ZM-60A) feature a self-propelling mechanism based on a gearbox with a differential, which is why the reverse drive layout is asymmetric.
