Pawl ZP 01.401 for Front Travel of ZM-60U/90U/120U and ZMB

The pawl ZP 01.401 is a moving locking element of the ratchet mechanism in the lifting assembly (jack), which is directly responsible for transmitting torque from the drive handle (ZP 01.060) to the lifting screw (ZP 01.070) in the modernized two-wheel front travel system of modern grain loaders of the ZM series (ZM-60U, ZM-90U, ZM-120U) and ZMB series (ZMB-90U, ZMB-120U), also compatible with classic ZM-60 models. In the kinematic scheme of the lifting assembly, this compact part absorbs the main contact load, transforming the operator's physical effort on the lever into controlled movement of the massive front frame section.

Working in rigid engagement with the gear wheel (daisy wheel Z-9) of the screw, the pawl's precisely calibrated working edge drops deep into the gaps between the teeth. During the reciprocating movements of the long handle, it confidently rotates the power shaft by a set angle. The main operational feature of this part is its reversible design — the mounting on an axle allows the locking element to be flipped freely in the opposite direction, instantly changing the direction of the entire ratchet mechanism. This ensures convenient and safe clearance adjustment — in one position, the pawl works rigidly to raise the machine for transport, and after being flipped, it allows for the precise and smooth lowering of the scraper feeders into the working position above the threshing floor surface.

The pawl ZP 01.401 is essentially a metal locking element designed to withstand point loads and transmit force during the rotation of the lifting screw. The part is manufactured from Steel 40, which provides the necessary balance of hardness and ductility — the working edge does not deform from contact with the ratchet wheel, and the pawl body does not tend to crack under lever jerks. Particular attention should be paid to the geometry of your unit's manual drive mechanism when selecting this spare part. Over the years of grain loader production by various companies and after numerous field repairs, many variations of rotating handles have emerged. They often differ in specific profile bends under the grip, which changes the mounting height and distance from the pawl hinge axis to the ratchet wheel (daisy wheel). Due to these spatial discrepancies, the length of the pawl required for reliable engagement may vary on different machines.

Zavod Moroza produces a standardized, universal version of the pawl ZP 01.401, designed for the correct kinematics of the factory assembly. However, if your lifting mechanism has a non-typical design with altered lever dimensions or a "customized" daisy wheel, installing just one new locking element does not guarantee the correct engagement angle with the daisy wheel teeth. For equipment with compromised drive geometry, the most technically sound solution is to order the assembled unit — a new handle complete with the pawl and the lifting screw ZP 01.070. To achieve maximum mechanism lifespan, it is advisable to supplement this kit with a new special nut ZP 01.101 — this approach will resolve part fitting issues and ensure reliable fixation of the front travel height without ratchet slippage.

Related Components and Contact Assemblies Connected to the Pawl

The pawl ZP 01.401 is a contact link in a single kinematic chain of the ratchet mechanism, and according to the modernized two-wheel travel scheme, its correct operation and uniform wear directly depend on the technical condition of the following parts:

  • Screw ZP 01.070
The power shaft equipped with a ratchet wheel (daisy wheel Z-9), with which the pawl enters into direct tooth engagement.
  • Handle ZP 01.060
The manual drive lever that serves as the geometric base for the hinge mounting of the locking element.
  • Special nut ZP 01.101
The support assembly of the screw pair, the condition of which determines the overall stability of screw rotation.
  • Fixing elements
Bolts, locking pins, and matching washers.

In practice, after years of operation and the use of non-original parts, lifting mechanisms on many units lose their original factory kinematics. Deformed mounting axles on handles, non-typical wear, or makeshift welding of the ratchet wheel lead to the standard pawl failing to drop into the profile at a sufficient depth. This causes a maintenance issue extremely irritating to operators — "idle jerking" — where, under the load of the massive frame, the locking element slips over the tops of the teeth, and the lever moves without transmitting torque to the screw.

If a capital replacement of the entire lifting assembly is not currently possible, and a standard pawl does not provide reliable engagement with your worn or modified daisy wheel, Zavod Moroza’s production capacities allow for the manufacture of adapted versions of this part. We can specifically change the working edge's tilt angle, the pawl body's overall length, its shape, and use stronger alloy steels or apply individual heat treatment regimes for maximum abrasion resistance. Such custom parts are manufactured according to your drawings, hand-drawn sketches, or even photos with basic dimensions indicated by calipers. Furthermore, understanding the engineering complexity of fitting kinematics "blindly," we provide the opportunity to order several experimental pawl variants with incremental changes in tooth angle or length. This will allow the operator to test all samples under load directly on the threshing floor, select the ideal configuration for their worn mechanism, and reliably eliminate parasitic lever slippage, restoring rigid fixation to the drive.

Buy Pawl ZP 01.401 as a First Step of Cooperation with Zavod Moroza

For over 20 years of continuous work in the field of agricultural machinery production and modernization, Zavod Moroza has developed its own manufacturing philosophy — in massive units, there are no secondary or insignificant parts. Our approach is based on a deep understanding of the daily challenges faced by farmers and constant live dialogue with engineers and mechanics directly on farms. Spare part production at our facility is always accompanied by detailed feedback analysis — when a widespread problem with ratchet slippage or inconvenience of manual adjustment arises, we analyze the kinematics and offer a technically sound solution. Cooperation with us is a full-fledged engineering partnership where our many years of practical experience are converted into the reliability of every assembly of your machine.

At our enterprise, you can buy the pawl ZP 01.401 both in the classic serial version made of structural Steel 40 and order its adapted or additionally heat-strengthened (hardened) versions. Depending on the condition of your lifting mechanism, we will promptly ship the part separately for quick maintenance, paired with a new Z-9 ratchet wheel, or as part of a fully assembled rotating handle ZP 01.060. Such a flexible approach will allow you to carry out repairs as rationally and effectively as possible.
