Axle ZP 01.601 of the Front Travel ZM-60U/90U/120U
The axle ZP 01.601.000 is the central connecting element in the kinematic scheme of the modernized two-wheel front travel of the ZM-60U/90U/120U grain loaders. In the process of modernizing the units, this part changed its initial engineering purpose — while in classic single-wheel models of previous generations it served as the direct axle for a single wheel, in the modern reinforced design it functions as the main pendulum hinge. The axle movably connects the inner fork ZP 01.040 with the massive wheel axle OVI 01.023 — and it is thanks to the axle ZP 01.601 that the balancer mechanism of the undercarriage is realized. This assembly allows the entire two-wheel base to swing freely in the transverse plane, uniformly distribute the static load from the frame, and softly adapt to the unevenness of the threshing floor area while moving the heavy machine.
Design Features of the Axle ZP 01.601
Structurally, the axle ZP 01.601 is a stepped cylindrical shaft with symmetrical mounting journals on both ends. The material for its manufacture is high-quality structural carbon steel grade 45 (Steel 45) — the use of this metal provides the part with high bending strength and excellent resistance to contact wear. For farms with increased load on the equipment, it is possible to manufacture a reinforced version of the axle from alloyed chrome steel with appropriate hardening under individual order, which ensures maximum resistance to wear and impact deformations.
The basic geometric parameters of the axle ZP 01.601 are strictly regulated by blueprints — the total length of the shaft is 180 mm, the diameter of the massive central part is 40 mm, and the diameter of the side mounting journals is 30 mm.
A key design difference of the modern axle is its structural monolithicity, which became the result of the evolution of the undercarriage. In the classic single-wheel travel ZP 01.020, this part served directly as the wheel axle and had vertical through-holes — special bolts ZP 01.602 passed through them, which fixed the springs ZP 01.603. However, long-term operating experience has shown that spring suspension in threshing floor conditions has significant drawbacks — it provoked instability, swaying of the frame, and was prone to frequent breakdowns. Because of this, many machine operators refused it on their own, rigidly blocking the travel — this is how axles ZP 01.601 without these holes became widespread. Considering this experience, this very solid construction of the axle ZP 01.601 is used in our modernized two-wheel travel. The modern part is produced without transverse holes for bolts, and the absence of these stress concentrators has radically increased the overall rigidity of the shaft and its resistance to deformation. Now, the smooth central part (Ø 40 mm) acts as a reliable support neck for the pendulum rotation of the massive wheel axle OVI 01.023 and passes through the base round holes of the inner fork ZP 01.040, while the side journals (Ø 30 mm) are guided into the vertical longitudinal slots of the massive outer fork ZP 01.050 — these narrowed ends perform the role of guides that slide up and down the slots during lifting or lowering of the front travel by the screw mechanism, reliably holding the entire wheelbase from rotating inside the strut.
Repair Features and Replacement of Axle ZP 01.601 + Adjacent Parts
During the inspection or repair of the front travel pendulum mechanism, along with the axle ZP 01.601, the following adjacent assemblies are subject to mandatory revision:
- Wheel axle OVI 01.023
- Inner fork ZP 01.040
- Outer fork ZP 01.050
- Bearings I-NK 405032 (central hinge)
Wear in this central assembly has a clear mechanical sequence — most often the root cause is a lack of lubrication in the bearings of the central hinge, which ensures the pendulum movement of the wheel axle OVI 01.023 around the central shaft. The destruction of the bearing rollers leads to direct metal friction, resulting in deep wear on the smooth neck of the axle ZP 01.601, and the base mounting holes in the inner fork ZP 01.040 gradually become elliptical. Additionally, it is worth monitoring the state of the side journals of the axle — if the vertical longitudinal slots of the outer fork ZP 01.050 operate dry and are constantly clogged with dust, the narrowed ends of the axle can wear down during regular lifting or lowering of the front travel.
Despite these classic operational scenarios, it is important to understand that the modernized design of the monolithic axle ZP 01.601 was created specifically to minimize such problems. The abandonment of weakening through-holes for bolts and the transition to a solid reinforced profile endow the part with a huge safety margin, completely eliminating the risk of its sudden breakage. When following the basic rules of technical maintenance — primarily regular lubrication of the hinge through the provided grease nipples — this assembly demonstrates exceptional durability. The reinforced engineering geometry guarantees that the pendulum mechanism of your unit will work stably, withstanding extreme loads over many intensive working seasons.
Buy the Axle ZP 01.601 for Two-Wheel Front Travel from Zavod Moroza
Zavod Moroza combines the serial production of equipment and spare parts with deep design improvement of units, based on many years of experience in their use on the threshing floor. The modernized two-wheel front travel is one of the most successful results of this work: analyzing many years of feedback from machine operators regarding the instability of the base single-wheel strut and regular breakdowns of the spring suspension, our designers developed a fundamentally new, reinforced pendulum system.
At the same time, an extremely rational and engineeringly elegant solution was implemented — the time-tested axle ZP 01.601 was successfully rethought and utilized in an absolutely new role. The part, which in previous generations of machines served as a simple axle for a single wheel, was stripped of stress concentrators and transformed into an ultra-strong central hinge — now it reliably holds the entire massive balancer axle OVI 01.023. Thanks to this modernization, heavy grain loaders received unprecedented stability, the ability to softly overcome the unevenness of the site, and perfectly distribute weight. Widespread positive practice of farms across the country confirms — the transition to a two-wheel base completely eliminates the problem of lateral roll and the risks of the unit overturning during operation or maneuvering.
We guarantee strict adherence to metal processing technologies, precise geometry of mounting seats, and the use of exclusively high-quality structural steels. At our enterprise, you can purchase either a reinforced axle ZP 01.601 for current maintenance or order a fully equipped two-wheel front travel assembly for the capital modernization of your unit.
