Rubber-Coated Wheel ZPT 1.6.2 for Front Travel of ZM-60U/90U/120U and ZMB

The rubber-coated wheel ZPT 1.6.2 is the main support and travel element of the lower part of the front travel strut on modern ZM series (ZM-60U, ZM-90U, ZM-120U) and ZMB series (ZMB-90U, ZMB-120U) grain loaders, and is also used in classic ZM models (front and rear travel). In the general design of the massive unit, this part performs a dual engineering function — it acts as a reliable mover for stable movement across the threshing floor and works as a primary damper. Thanks to its rubber layer, the wheel absorbs vibrations and harsh impact loads from surface irregularities, protecting bearing assemblies, hubs, and the load-bearing frame from destructive mechanical impact during operation and maneuvering.

A key difference of the modernized undercarriage from Zavod Moroza is the use of a pendulum (balancer) system, where a paired set of two ZPT 1.6.2 wheels is standardly installed on the front axle OVI 01.023. Classic units of previous generations relied on only one front wheel, which did not always provide sufficient support area and were prone to side tilt. The two-wheel base evenly distributes the dynamic and static weight of the machine across two points, reducing specific surface pressure and guaranteeing grain loader stability. At the same time, the rubber-coated wheel ZPT 1.6.2 itself has retained its standardized dimensions and disk mounting specifications — it is completely universal and interchangeable, so it mounts without issue on both new two-wheel balancers and classic single-wheel struts of machines from previous years of production.

Technical Specifications of Rubber-Coated Wheel ZPT 1.6.2

  • Catalog Number: ZPT 1.6.2

  • Outer diameter: 400 mm
  • Working surface width: 100 mm
  • Disk material: Structural carbon steel (St3), 6 mm thickness
  • Tire type: Solid, non-banded (IZh 2162)
  • Quantity for front travel: 2 pcs. (for our two-wheel travel production)
  • Country of Manufacture: Ukraine

Structurally, the ZPT 1.6.2 wheel consists of two main parts: a metal rim and an outer rubber mass. The base load-bearing disk (ZPT 1.6.2.1) is made of 6 mm thick sheet steel. The welded connection of the central disk and the outer cylindrical ring forms a spatial structure capable of withstanding the static weight of the grain loader and side loads without forming axial runout ("wobble") during turns. Standardized mounting holes are made in the center of the disk, the coordinates of which match the ZPT 1007 hub flange, ensuring correct centering during installation.

The working contact layer is the massive non-banded tire IZh 2162. Since the part is solid and lacks a pneumatic chamber, it is invulnerable to punctures or cuts from sharp objects encountered on threshing floors. The rubber compound is calculated for abrasive wear against concrete or asphalt and retains elasticity under the influence of UV light and temperature fluctuations. According to the factory standard, the tire is mounted onto the steel rim using a tight mechanical press-fit method, and therefore the internal diameter of the rubber has a negative tolerance relative to the metal disk — this ensures reliable fixation of the tire due to friction and material elasticity after being seated on a hydraulic press.

Despite the transition of modern Zavod Moroza grain loaders to a pendulum two-wheel front travel system, the support wheels themselves have retained their proven dimensions (400 mm diameter, 100 mm width). Thanks to this standardization of sizes and mounts, the part is universal and interchangeable with previous generation units. In two-wheel travel conditions, a pair of such wheels distributes the load evenly, reducing specific pressure on the surface and improving machine mobility and control.

Related Components of the Wheel Assembly

Since the rubber-coated wheel ZPT 1.6.2 is the final support element, its proper operation directly depends on the condition of the parts on which it rotates and is fixed. According to the kinematic scheme of the modern two-wheel front travel, the following adjacent components must be inspected during diagnostics or wheel replacement:

  • Wheel axle OVI 01.023 (massive pendulum beam with mounting journals)
  • Wheel hub ZPT 1007 (cast iron flange to which the wheel disk is attached)
  • Cermet bushings A 40x50x25 (sliding elements pressed inside the hub)
  • End washer ZP 01.020 (massive steel dust cap and stopper on the axle end)
  • Fastening elements (M12x40 bolts for fixing the disk to the hub, M8x25 bolts for the end washer, as well as corresponding M12 nuts and spring washers)

The implementation of a two-wheel base has opened new engineering possibilities for undercarriage modernization. In the classic strut of previous generations, the dimensions of a single wheel were rigidly limited by the inner space of the guide fork, but the transition to the OVI 01.023 axle radically changed this geometry — now two support wheels are moved to the outside of the metal structure. This removed physical spatial limitations, so for farms with difficult threshing floor terrain, significant potholes, or loose coverage, we can manufacture wheels of non-standard sizes — increased diameter or with an extended tread working surface. When such a need arises, the length of the axle journals themselves is individually adapted at our production facility to fit the new hub and disk dimensions, which allows for further reduction of machine pressure on the surface and significantly improves mobility and handling.

Another typical operational problem is the gradual sliding of the rubber (IZh 2162 tire) off the steel rim — this defect occurred under the influence of strong side (torsional) loads during sharp turns of the grain loader. In the standard factory execution, the rubber is held on the metal exclusively by friction after tight mechanical press-fitting, but to forever eliminate the risk of the tire coming off, Zavod Moroza offers a technologically superior solution — applying an outer rubber layer using the hot vulcanization method (lining). During this process, the raw rubber compound polymerizes and is permanently "welded" to the steel disk at a molecular level. Such a monolithic wheel becomes absolutely invulnerable to extreme side forces, completely eliminating the probability of tire slippage even under the most demanding maneuvering conditions.

Buy Rubber-Coated Wheel ZPT 1.6.2 from Zavod Moroza

Support wheel wear is a natural consequence of operating massive machinery on hard surfaces, but the smoothness of the ride and the overall stability of the unit directly depend on their condition. At our enterprise, you can buy the rubber-coated wheel ZPT 1.6.2 in the exact configuration that meets the current engineering needs of your farm. We offer both classic wheels with a standard press-fitted IZh 2162 tire and reinforced monolithic versions with rubber applied via hot vulcanization, which is guaranteed to eliminate the risk of slippage under extreme side loads. Depending on the condition of your undercarriage, the part can be ordered separately or as a fully assembled unit with a ZPT 1007 hub and installed cermet bushings for the fastest possible unit replacement on the threshing floor.

Zavod Moroza’s production practice is based on strict adherence to dimensional standards and an understanding of the technical realities of operating machines of different generations. Regardless of whether your grain loader is running on a classic old single-wheel strut or has been refitted to our modern pendulum two-wheel balancer design, these support wheels have retained 100% compatibility with mounting points and are guaranteed to fit your axles without any additional modifications. If necessary, we can also equip your machine with wheels of non-standard increased diameter or width.
