ZM 01.104 Wheel Hub (Blind, Cam-Free Reverse Hub)

The ZM 01.104 hub is a blind support-drive reverse hub for the ZP 01.220 mechanism, utilized within the running gear of classic serial grain throwers (ZM-60). The component is installed on the right side of the machine onto the ZP 01.627 half-axle and is responsible for continuously and rigidly transmitting torque from the self-propelled gearbox directly to the driving wheel.

Unlike the corresponding left ZM 01.180 hub, which features end cams to operate with a movable disengagement clutch, the ZM 01.104 hub features a flat face and lacks travel-disengagement features. It locks firmly onto the milled flat of the ZP 01.627 shaft using the ZP 01.4502 locking plate, creating a reliable, solid wheel drive without utilizing any moving clutches or springs.

Technical Specifications of the ZM 01.104 Hub

  • Catalog number: ZM 01.104
  • Application: ZM-60 (classic models with asymmetric drive)
  • Installation assembly: Rear drive ZP 01.220 (blind half-axle of the ZP 01.627 shaft)
  • Part type: Blind support-drive hub without cams
  • Material: Gray cast iron (Sch 20 GOST 1412-79)
  • Part weight: 2.28 kg
  • Shaft fixation method: ZP 14.502 plate and two M8x16 bolts via the internal keyway/shaft undercut
  • Wheel mounting: Square flange with 4 holes
  • Quantity per assembly: 1 pc. (on classic asymmetric running gear)

The flat working face lacking cams and the mounting holes for the ZP 14.502 plate form the basis of this hub's structural simplicity. Unlike cam-type modifications, the face of the casting is even and features two specialized threaded holes. When mounting onto the ZP 01.627 shaft, the ZP 14.502 plate is placed over the milled flat of the half-axle and bolted directly to the hub face using two M8x16 bolts, preventing relative rotation and longitudinal displacement.

The square mounting flange for the running wheel serves as a robust structural base for securing the ZPT 1.6.2 wheel disk—four symmetrical flange holes ensure a secure bolted connection to the wheel disk, distributing the grain thrower's weight and traction loads evenly during threshing floor operations.

The internal bore featuring a keyway and technological boss is a hallmark of classic factory castings, where an internal longitudinal keyway creates a distinct local thickening (an elongated boss) on the outer cast surface, giving the component a characteristic silhouette shape. At Zavod Moroza, we accommodate various technological customer preferences—we manufacture hubs matching the strict classic blueprint album while also offering a modified variant featuring a solid cylindrical outer profile (a true circle in cross-section) with reinforced wall thickness, ensuring even higher casting strength and a cleaner appearance.

Associated Spare Parts and Configuration Options

Within the running gear, the ZM 01.104 hub operates within a strictly defined kinematic pairing with the blind half-axle components. During replacement or inspection, the following associated elements must be checked:

  • Reverse shaft ZP 01.627
  • Locking plate ZP 14.502
  • Fastening bolts M8x16 with washers
  • Drive sprocket ZP 01.360 (Z=25, t=19.05 mm)
  • Running wheel ZPT 1.6.2
  • Support bearing assemblies (11206 bearings + H 026.058 housings and covers)

Because the ZM 01.104 hub establishes an unbroken connection with the half-axle, even when the left clutch is disengaged during the towing of a classic ZM-60, the right wheel with this blind hub continues to rotate and forcibly spin the internal elements of the self-propelled gearbox. At this point, the bevel satellite gears and the differential planetary gear spin idly inside the gearbox, creating additional resistance during grain thrower relocation and causing unnecessary wear on the gear transmissions. To eliminate this drawback, many farming operations choose to completely abandon the blind ZM 01.104 hub and obsolete ZP 01.627 shaft, replacing them with a second ZM 01.180 cam hub, ZP 01.625 shaft, and ZP 01.102 cam clutch—converting the grain thrower to a modern symmetric layout where both wheels can be disconnected from the transmission.

Buying the ZM 01.104 Hub and Components from Zavod Moroza

The specialists at Zavod Moroza offer flexible and sound solutions for repairing and upgrading your grain thrower's running system. Thanks to our in-house foundry and metalworking facilities, we manufacture blind cast-iron ZM 01.104 hubs from durable gray cast iron (Sch 20) in compliance with all geometric tolerances for shaft seating and flange bolt spacing.

We are ready to supply individual ZM 01.104 hubs or ZP 14.502 plates to preserve the classic asymmetric drive or provide complete kits and pre-assembled half-axles for a full conversion of the reverse gear to a symmetric wheel disengagement system. If needed, our engineers can adapt the mounting bores or flange bolt spacing to match your specific disks and shafts. Contact our sales department for professional consultation—we will select reliable direct-from-manufacturer components to ensure the long-lasting operation of your machinery!
